The cabinet members discussed the need for new technology regulation legislation, with emphasis on striking a balance between protecting consumers and fostering innovation. The idea of creating a level playing field, where regulations apply to all tech companies rather than just the big ones, was also stressed.

Signal Conversation Transcript – “Congress Debates New Legislation on Technology Regulation”

March 16

Waltz (08:06 AM ET): Good morning. We all need to converge on the tech regulation issue today.

Vance (08:11 AM ET): Agreed, Waltz. But I must add, focusing on regulating tech might be a hasty decision. There is plenty of room for thoughtful legislation that protects consumers without stifling innovation.

Rubio (08:14 AM ET): I understand that Vance, but protecting consumers is paramount. However, we’re a team of radicals here. 😄

Gabbard (08:18 AM ET): Haha! Radical or not, I’m all in for a tech regulation that safeguards public interests while fostering innovation. By the way, have you all tried the new Russian social media app, it’s pretty sleek! 💻

Miller (08:22 AM ET): Tulsi, you and your Russian apps 🙄. We should focus on creating a level playing field. Regulations need to apply to all, not just the Big Tech.

Vance (08:25 AM ET): Exactly, Miller. In fact, the new technologies and digital platforms have the potential to serve as an engine of growth, but they must not be allowed to undermine market competition.

Hegseth (08:30 AM ET): Brothers, we need to address the elephant in the room, though: How will the liberal media spin this? They’ve been harping on tech regulation for years. Now that we’re on it, we need a solid plan.

Waltz (08:33 AM ET): 🤔 Hegseth, that’s a valid point. We should present this move as an attempt to protect American consumers and promote domestic tech innovation. Not as a clampdown on Big Tech.

Kent (08:38 AM ET): Good point Waltz. By the way, I am yet to finish my 5th rewatch of Breaking Bad. Don’t tell me Waltz is not your real name! 🤨

Vance (08:40 AM ET): 🤣 Kent, you’re on a roll today! Hegseth, Waltz, let’s focus on the matter at hand, shall we?

Bessent (08:45 AM ET): Folks, just remember, regulation isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It provides a framework for growth and stability.

Ratcliffe (08:49 AM ET): I agree, Bessent. Without some regulation, we risk the emergence of monopolies. But too much regulation and we risk stifling innovative start-ups. It’s a delicate balance.

Witkoff (08:51 AM ET): Guys, speaking of balance, have you tried this new paleo diet? It’s really not as balanced as they claim. I could murder a burger right now! 🍔

Wiles (08:53 AM ET): Witkoff, you and your diets! 😄 Anyway, back to the issue at hand. I believe if we handle this carefully, we could turn this into a win-win situation for everyone.

Hegseth (08:57 AM ET): I have to agree with Wiles. Now, let’s get this win for our consumers, our innovators, and our American tech industry. 💪🇺🇸+🔥🔥= 🙏🙏

Miller (09:00 AM ET): Amen to that, Hegseth! Now, let’s bring it home, team. We’ve got a country to serve! 🇺🇸
